SWATCH PARTNERS WITH THE 54TH INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION - LA BIENNALE DI VENEZIA

SWATCH PARTNERS WITH THE 54TH INTERNATIONAL ART EXHIBITION - LA BIENNALE DI VENEZIA

The love story between SWATCH and Art continues: the trend-setting Swiss watchmaker has signed a partnership agreement with la Biennale di Venezia.

La Biennale di Venezia is one of the world’s most important forums for the dissemination and “illumination” of current developments in international art.

The 54th International Art Exhibition, which opens June 4th of this year and runs through November 27th, will see artists from around the world contributing to the exhibition theme, “ILLUMInazioni - ILLUMInations”.

Swatch President Arlette-Elsa Emch commented, “We’re absolutely thrilled to be a partner of the 54 th International Art Exhibition. Art is at the heart of our brand, and has been ever since we started. And Venice is the most extraordinary place for anyone who loves art.”

The partnership between SWATCH and la Biennale di Venezia enhances an already strong connection between Venice and Switzerland’s trendiest watchmaker. Two years ago SWATCH staged a spectacular “live art” performance in the heart of the city, on a stage set up in Piazza San Marco.

A number of the most memorable SWATCH watches ever made were created by artists such as Keith Haring, Kiki Picasso, Alfred Hofkunst, Mimmo Paladino, Mimmo Rotella, Arnaldo Pomodoro, Jean-Michel Folon and Ted Scapa, among others. The creative interaction between leading artists and SWATCH continues today, with renowned artists and designers such as Jeremy Scott, Ivan Navarro and Enki Bilal contributing new work to enrich the Swatch collections. Art is one of three pillars supporting SWATCH. Along with fashion and sports, art represents the Swiss watch and jewellery maker’s strong brand identity.
