Nel 2019 ricorre il centenario dalla stipula del trattato di Saint-Germain, che divise il Tirolo assegnando all’Italia l’Alto Adige. In questa ricorrenza, il bivacco in esposizione a San Servolo, originale rifugio di emergenza d’alta montagna trasportato in laguna, racchiude le opere di sette artisti dell’Alto Adige/Südtirol in occasione della Biennale d’Arte di Venezia.
Al bivacco è dato il compito di rappresentare la vocazione di luogo aperto e transfrontaliero che caratterizza quella regione alpina, dove gli ideali di pace e convivenza vengono quotidianamente esercitati e alimentati in modo esemplare. Il bivacco è quindi non solo uno stretto riferimento alla morfologia alpina, ma vuole essere l’allegoria stessa di una terra di passaggio e scambio, ma anche di accoglienza, a cavallo e a superamento dei confini.
Una piccola Europa in questa Europa inquieta che riscopre i nazionalismi e si interroga sul suo futuro. La scelta curatoriale di fondo ha spinto gli artisti a interpretare con le loro opere il duplice livello concettuale di “Bivacco”. Il primo è quello “fisico”, con opere pensate per interagire con l’architettura minimale e lo spazio limitato. Il secondo è quello “evocativo”, ovvero nella sua valenza di luogo intimo e di riflessione, ma anche di rifugio sempre aperto come luogo di incontro, di interazione, di contaminazione culturale.
Il progetto é completato da un catalogo con testi di Roberto De Martin, Hannes Egger, Hannes Obermair, Maxi Obexer, Christiane Rekade e Patrizia Spadafora.

In 2019 will be celebrated the centennial of the signing of the Treaty of Saint-Germain, which divided Tyrol and assigned South Tyrol to Italy. In this occasion, this bivouac is brought to San Servolo: an original high mountain emergency shelter
transported to the venetian lagoon, and will exhibit the works of seven artists from south Tyrol in the occasion of the Venice Biennale of Art.
The bivouac represents this ideal of an open and cross-border place of the Alpine regions, where the ideals of peace and coexistence are exercised daily and fed in an exemplary way. The bivouac is therefore not only a close reference to the Alpine morphology, but it wants to be an allegory of a land of passage and exchange, and also of welcoming over the borders. A small Europe in this restless Europe that rediscovers nationalism and questions its future. The curatorial concept has brought the artists to interpret through their works, the dual conceptual level of „Bivouac“. The first is the „physical“ level, with works designed to interact with its minimal architecture and limited space. The second is the „evocative“ level, meaning an intimate place for meditation, but also a shelter, always open for encounters, interaction, cultural contamination.
A catalogue with texts by Roberto De Martin, Hannes Egger, Hannes Obermair, Maxi Obexer and Christiane Rekade as well as Patrizia Spadafora completes the artistic project.
